Good news! I received my confirmation e-mail for my flight to Houston where I will have staging. In Peace Corps lingo (of which there is a whole lot), that means the day when all the volunteers fly in from around the country and convene in one city-in my case, Houston-for some introduction meetings, vaccinations, and paperwork. I will be flying from Chicago to Houston on Tuesday, June 22nd. The next day, we will be flying as a group (approx. 50 people) from Houston to Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras.
I am very excited to leave! I have started to have very vivid dreams about the Peace Corps and I cannot wait to see what things are actually like.
Also, thanks to all my family and friends who have been so loving and generous as I prepare to move away for a couple of years! My send-off dinner was so much fun. Here’s a picture of the maternal side of the family.

Hi Carly! We’re very excited for you and will be anxiously awaiting your updates on Honduras. Hope the first leg of your trip goes smoothly. We’ll also be interested to hear of your living arrangements in Honduras. It will be fun to take another picture of our family upon your return to see how everyone has changed. Happy travels!
Love,
Aunt Sue
